Lisa Schamess is a writer based in Washington, D.C. Her stories and essays have appeared in Glimmer Train, Antietam Review, and the anthology Gravity and Grace (Paycock Press). Her novel, Borrowed Light, was published by SMU Press in 2002. She teaches literature and writing at Emerson Preparatory School in D.C.’s Dupont Circle neighborhood, and also blogs about money and culture at cheapbohemian.net. She misses defunct rotaries of all kinds, but especially the one on the television; she would like a remote control with a dial that clunks reassuringly when it turns.
