Stephen J. West started writing when he stopped drawing; he stopped drawing when things stopped looking like they should; things stopped looking like they should when he started seeing the world for what it is; he started seeing the world for what it is when he stopped to think about it. On occasion, he still stops to think about it. Stephen lives and teaches in West Virginia—a state that he suspects poses as defunct to protect its secret identity as a cultural dynamo.
